WIN Insights

WIN Insights is the research arm of WIN which aims to mobilise local advocacy and generate a global dialogue on gender equality and social impact issues through inclusive research, innovative tools, and lobbying and awareness raising.

Our two leading pieces of research are Gender Balance in Content and Sexual Harassment Tool.

Gender Balance in Content

WIN conducts training and provides resources on Gender Balance including a 3-part e-learning course as well as in-person training that is delivered to all of our Accelerator participants.  We also offer in-house training and bespoke consulting to our Advisory partners, which includes regular content tracking and feedback reports.

We have also developed the WIN Gender Tracker; an automated tool that can be used by organisations and individuals to track gender balance in content.

A Gender Balance Guide for the Media and an interactive digital tool are important resources to help our experts deliver training on identifying implicit bias practical approaches to improve gender balance in content.

Managing Sexual Harassment

Women in News delivers bespoke, confidential training to news media on how to manage and reduce sexual harassment. Our training targets media managers as well as newsrooms. We have built up a consortium of regional and global experts who deliver this training and coaching work to WIN Advisory partners, participants in the WIN Accelerator, and industry associations.

WIN in partnership with City, University of London have conducted a study documenting the extent of sexual harassment in newsrooms. The research is available online through an interactive site that allows users to break data down by region, country, gender, type of harassment as well as by management response. The website is available in nine languages.

WIN has also developed a practical toolkit for media employers and employees to deal with and prevent sexual harassment in their media organisations. The toolkit is currently available in English, Arabic, Spanish, French, VietnameseMyanmar, Portuguese, Russian, and Cambodian.
