Women in News (WIN) mourns the loss of Beata Kasale, owner and publisher of Botswana’s The Voice and honoured WIN Steering Committee member.
Beata was a tireless champion of free and independent media in Botswana and irrevocably changed the landscape of her country’s media scene as the first female owner and operator of a newspaper company.
Her legacy will live on through The Voice and her four children and many grandchildren, whom she adored.
Beata was also a founding mother of the Women in News programme, having been a great advocate and advisor since the inception of WIN eight years ago, and later a Steering Committee member for Botswana. She was also a true friend, mentor and a beloved member of our WIN family. We will miss her dearly. Our hearts go out to her family at this time.
