WIN hosts panel of sexual harassment at ARIJ Forum in Jordan

WAN-IFRA’s Women in News Program (WIN) sponsored a panel earlier today focusing on “Harassment of women journalists in the Arab world” during the 10 th Annual Forum for Investigative Journalism organized by the Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ) in Dead Sea, Jordan.

With the rising need of discussing the different forms of harassment women journalists can constantly face in the workplace and on reporting trips in the MENA region, the panel hosted Executive Director of International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) Elisa Lees Munoz, Lebanese journalist and co-founder of Daraj Alia Ibrahim, journalist and editor specialized in developmental and investigative reporting Ruba Anabtawi, and Senior editor and investigative reporter at the Tunisian African News Agency Bahia Belmabrouk to talk about the most common forms of sexual, physical, verbal, on and offline harassment women journalists have had to face, and share strategies to cope with such acts that often continue with impunity. The panel was moderated by WIN MENA's Regional Director Fatemah Farag.
