WAN-IFRA Organizes its Second Training for Al-Masry Al Youm Newspaper

WAN-IFRA, in cooperation with the Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper, held the second training session for 14 women journalists working at the newspaper on Wednesday October 25. The training focused on "Leadership and Strategic Planning" as part of Women in the News project. The training was also attended by Fatemah Farag, Women in News Director in the MENA.

The training was led by Dr. Ahmed Taher, professor at the American University in Cairo and the University of Georgia, who has published dozens of scientific researches and articles in international journals, wrote and translated five books on management and marketing, and supervised more than 20 PhD and MA thesis in the Netherlands, UK and Egypt.

This second training will take place at the offices of Al Watan newspaper in Cairo. It aims at introducing prominent leaders to the difference between leadership and management, how to deal with long-term strategies, forethinking and planning, and identifying the various administrative activities that support and influence the newsroom and understand gender issues that are related to management.
 

According to Fatemah Farag, this training organized at several media organizations in Egypt is a training program for women in the news. It aims at empowering women journalists in managerial positions by providing them professional skills and knowledge to help them advance in their careers.
